HITACHI PROVES A WINNER FOR DUNCAN MACKAY & SONS LTD

Thursday, June 30, 2022

As part of HCMUK’s 50th Anniversary, we are celebrating our success and vast customer base through a series of insightful articles.

In the third instalment in the series, we spoke with Luke Mackay, a machine operator at Duncan Mackay & Sons Ltd, a civil engineering family-based firm, situated in the Isle of Lewis Scotland.

Duncan Mackay & Sons Ltd have owned Hitachi machines since the early 1990s, starting with an EX60-1, followed by an EX130-1 and EX200-1. They now operate a fleet of 25 Hitachi machines, ranging from 1.5 to 20 tonnes, including a ZX130-7 and ZX210-7.

Talking about operating Hitachi machines Luke said: “My grandfather set up Duncan Mackay & Sons Ltd and was a strong advocate of Hitachi machines from the word go.

“We have bought from other construction manufacturers, but Hitachi always came out on top for drive preference, operator comfort, speed, and reliability.

“Reliability is the real clincher for us as we’re situated off the mainland of Scotland, so knowing that when you purchase a Hitachi machine you are buying into reliability is important to us. I’m glad to say we’ve had no issues with our Hitachi fleet to date.”

Do you have a U Series, UH Series, EX Series or ZX-1 machine? If so, we would love to hear from you to be featured throughout our 50th Anniversary celebrations this year.
