Hitachi Construction Machinery UK donate use of ZX130LCN-7 to develop Derby Mountain Rescue Team new base

Tuesday, February 27, 2024

Hitachi Construction Machinery UK have donated the use of a used ZX130LCN-7 to the Derby Mountain Rescue Team to assist them in the development of their new base.

The Derby Mountain Rescue Team (DMRT) are an emergency service who are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and consist entirely of unpaid volunteers. They are a search and rescue team serving the community and assist police in searching for missing and vulnerable people in the surrounding towns, hills and rivers.

The DMRT relies on donations, bequests and fundraising to operate and the new base will allow the DMRT to massively enhance their operational capabilities, being more effective at alleviating the distress people find themselves in when they get into trouble outdoors.

The ZX130LCN-7 has allowed the DMRT to make fantastic progress by clearing the site in a quick and effective manner, ready to dig the footings for the building.

David O Sullivan, Press Officer for the DMRT commented, ““Undertaking a project like this is no small task, it takes a lot of planning, effort and capital to make something like this happen. We ordinarily rely on support from the community to cover our annual running costs, so we understand it’s a big ask for additional help at this time. With the help of suppliers like HCMUK, we are able to make substantial savings on the project, freeing up already raised funds and reducing the overall fundraising burden on the team. The first week’s progress is remarkable and we couldn’t do it without the support of our community.”

A valued customer of HCMUK Joe Tipper works with the Derby Mountain Rescue Team and commented, “Our business is founded on building long term authentic relationships with our customers by providing quality equipment and materials to make their lives easier and by playing an active role in the communities we work together in. It is fantastic to work with a supplier like Hitachi where those values align as demonstrated by the unrivalled performance of the excavators, we use on our hire fleet and their approach to supporting this fantastic project in the local community.

Abbi Wilson, Marketing Manager at HCMUK commented, “All of us here at HCMUK are thrilled to support the building works of the Derby Mountain Rescue Team’s new base through the use of one of our excavators. To know that our gesture is assisting such an important cause to the local communities in and around Derby is one we are proud of and wish the team the best of luck with the remaining development works.”
