Dampneys Upgrade with four Hitachi ZX130LCN-5B Excavators

Wednesday, September 16, 2015

Dampneys Agri Environmental has successfully upgraded their machinery in response to both environmental legislative requirements in weight limits and application rates as well as a need to maximise efficiencies.

The family owned company specialises in the recycling of Biosolids in the water industry and boasts a long history in farming too. Working in partnership with Wessex Water and Geneco for over 20 years; Dampneys now recycle an average of 240,000 tonnes per annum, and in 2011 were awarded the contract to recycle the Biosolids at Wessex Water’s largest plant in Avonmouth.

The decision to commission four new Hitachi ZX130LCN-5B excavators stems from a strong working relationship with Hitachi Construction Machinery UK, which spans over 7 years. The project also included the creation of a bespoke large capacity bucket produced to Dampneys exact specification, along with the supply of normal excavation size buckets.

Gavin Dampney, Regional Manager of Dampneys Agri Environmental says: “Volume and speed are the cornerstones of our business, we need robust machinery that’s fit for purpose, able to withstand heavy workloads with ease, whilst also facilitating compliance relating to environmental legislation.

Hitachi Construction Machinery UK has always delivered for us and we feel confident the machines commissioned can meet our expectations in relation to build quality and performance. The bespoke elements create an excellent additional benefit for us too.”

Phil Harper of Hitachi Construction Machinery UK said: “We are delighted to help Dampneys and build upon an established and successful working relationship.”
