FORK RENT – A FAMILY RUN BUSINESS ENJOYING SUCCESS ACROSS THE UK

Tuesday, August 13, 2013

Established in 1978 by brother and sister partnership Guy and Trudi Nicholls, family owned business Fork Rent has gone from strength to strength over the years. Their success is built not just on the unrivalled age and specification of the machines they offer, but upon their genuine commitment to customer service and on the hugely positive attitude that runs through the very core of the business.

From their Head Office in Ipswich, Suffolk and two further depots in Hullavington, Wiltshire and Warrington, Lancashire; Fork Rent serves the entire country, from Scotland to the Isle of Wight and all across England and Wales. At any one time Fork Rent expect to be hiring machines out to around 1000 customers!

Their client list is an impressive and ever growing one. Including companies like Breheny, Barnes Construction, Taylor Wimpey, Barratt Homes, Bloor Group; and over the last few years new contracts have been won with the likes of Speedy Managed Services, Gladedale Group and Balfour Beatty.

A large part of Fork Rent’s success has to be put down to the unique “can do” culture that permeates every level of the business – from the boardroom to the shop floor. The whole team are driven to do whatever it takes to make sure their customers are happy. This commitment has helped deliver exceptional growth, particularly over the last five years, in which Fork Rent has delivered double digit growth year on year. Figures all the more impressive when you consider the economic environment in which they have been achieved.

Fork Rent have become well known for providing high specification, reliable machines. That perhaps explains why, over the last eight years, they have enjoyed such a good working partnership with HM Plant. In just the last 9 months Fork Rent have invested over £4 million on new Hitachi machines across the range and including ZX17, ZX27, ZX29, ZX48, ZX50, ZX85, ZAX130, ZAX135 and ZX210 models – amongst them new eco-friendly machines and they plan on increasing that investment to over £6 million over the next few months. It further confirms Hitachi’s reputation for providing the best value excavators on the market today. Their reliability allowing Fork Rent to offer a much more efficient and effective back up service for their customers.

It’s hoped HM Plant’s commitment to exceptional customer service will ensure that HM Plant remain Fork Rent’s preferred supplier for many years to come, as Fork Rent further expand, with plans under way to open a North East depot by the end of 2013.
