Hitachi Construction Machinery UK has hit the ground running in 2017, with 31 Hitachi excavators delivered to Thomas Plant Hire Ltd in January, with a further 10 to be delivered in February, increasing their fleet to around 250 Hitachi excavators ranging from micros to 35 tonne machines.
Established in 1999, Thomas Plant Hire Ltd has been a long term supplier of construction machinery for many key projects throughout the UK, working from their head office in Holywell, North Wales, and their Widnes depot with a turnover of £20 million each year.
Wyn Thomas tells us: “We’re heavily involved in plant hire, with a sister company that carries out contracting, with a busy order book for 2017.”
He continues: “At the moment, everything we’ve invested in is added on to the existing fleet to meet increasing demand across the North West.”
The company made its first order with Hitachi in 2002 and has stuck with them ever since, which Thomas puts down to the brand’s constant delivery of high performance, high-precision results, alongside the excellent reliability and resale value of Hitachi excavators.
Their recent purchase includes a Hitachi ZX300LC-6 excavator, which not only has the size and durability to make it ideal for a wide range of jobs, but the technology and performance rating to increase user comfort and reduce environmental impact. Thanks to a number of cutting edge technologies and innovative engineering features, such as the Selective Catalytic Reduction System, these new excavators are up to 14% more efficient than the previous Zaxis-5 model.
The bulk of the order included twenty much-needed 13 tonne ZX135-6 excavators to combat a recent shortage due to high demand, alongside ten of both the Hitachi ZX48U-5 and ZX26U-5 mini excavators, delivered in January.
Coming in at just 2.72 and 5.06 tonnes respectively, Hitachi mini excavators are ideal for smaller projects, allowing for excellent manoeuvrability and quick turnaround.
Thomas Plant supply machinery to not only the North West but nationwide, with their brand new machines set to work on a variety of projects, including civil engineering developments and groundwork solutions.
